When Mr. Manuel Quevedo Alemán developed the original recipe for Aldea rum in La Aldea de San Nicolás de Tolentino in 1936, he surely never imagined that half a century later his successors would consider commemorating such a feat. Tradición Aldea rum is the fruit of that idea that Mr. Manuel’s great-great-grandchildren began to prepare in the early 1990s to launch it in 2013.
More than twenty years of meticulous maturation and selection of different rums of the house during various stages of blending led to gradually choosing oak barrels of different origins and toasting levels to witness, over the years, the process of growth of Tradición. Finally, after two decades of slow blending, the final result is left to finish for two more years in red wine barrels to reach its optimum level of maturity and balance.
A limited and numbered series of less than 2,000 units per year make Tradición Aldea rum an almost unique product, which in profile reminds a very old brandy, and which requires time to be understood and enjoyed. Once opened and served, Tradición evolves through oxidation, showing a myriad of nuances with each sip.
